dumaluan beach resort

10-13 august 2011. bohol

after the short panglao tour, we checked in at dumaluan beach resort 1. this is still included in the package that we availed from kuya dodong's services. it was around 1 in the afternoon when we arrived at the resort. everyone took a rest except me. i preferred to wander in the shore and take some pictures. the cool breeze of the sea was really relaxing. alongside dumaluan beach resort are the other resorts in bohol - bohol beach club, bagobo, whites and greens, etc.

dumaluan beach resort has 80 rooms of different types to cater to the needs and requirements of its guests. many travel agencies have also tied up with dbr to offer tour package to those who want to visit the island of bohol.

our family cottage

we had a nice stay in the resort. it may not as good and cozy as the other resorts, but i enjoyed the beach front.

rates
dbr has a standard aircon room which is 1,300 per night and good for 2 persons only. extra bed is 250. they also have superior deluxe for 2,150/night and deluxe for 2,600/night. there are other types of rooms for different rates. visit their site to see all.

packages
dumaluan also offers tour packages inclusive of the room accommodation. the tour may include the bohol coountryside tour, dolphin watching and island hopping.

amenities
the resort has a volleyball court (not beach volley though) and billiard tables for rent. dumaluan 2 has a swimming pool. it also has a restaurant called dbr grill which offers good food at affordable prices. there is also a store where you can buy basic needs (food, drinks, toiletries, etc).

dbr also offers water sports and adventure - banana boat ride, glass bottom ride, water skiing and others.

dbr grill
we had our dinner here for our whole stay. food is great and affordable. some fish ranges from 200-300 per piece, big cuts. pork and chicken are also available. we always had their sinigang na hipon. because aside from it is really good, it is also good for 4-5 persons. i love their fruit shakes especially avocado :)

eagle point resort

05-06 july 2008, anilao, batangas

named after the white-hooded kites that play and hunt in the area, eagle point resort nestles on the tip of the calumpang peninsula in mabini, batangas province, about two and a half hours from metro manila. once a privately-owned vacation villa and dive camp, the property is now the premier resort in the anilao-mabini area. (website info)

our 2008 company outing was held here. we were given welcome drinks upon arrival, and also a necklace made out of small shells. the staff were really accommodating. then we went to our respective rooms to have rest.

our activities were held at sepoc island for the whole day, so we stayed at the resort just to rest and have our social night.

accommodation and rates
we stayed in their so called terrace hotel (P6,200/night), where there are spacious rooms, overlooking the bay. all rooms are airconditioned, with bathroom and television.

besides this terrace hotel, they also have:
  • suites - airconditioned two-bedroom unit. perfect for families and small groups (P8,700/night).
  • cottages - suited for couples, has a large veranda overlooking the sea (P5,200/night).
  • cabanas - ideal for large groups on day tour (P3,600/night).

sepoc island
about a 20-minute boat ride from the resort, eagle point owns a stretch of white sand beach.

sepoc beach is on the small neck of a peninsula that faces the distant mindoro coast on one side and on the other, sepoc wall, one of the best dive spots in the vicinity. sepoc is ripe for discovery. go where nature beckons: follow trails, explore caves, turn every stone. (website info)

    st. louie terraces lodging house

    3 february 2011 - coron, palawan
    checkin, town proper tour

    upon arrival, we were picked up by ms. annie ver bacosa, the incorporator of st. louie terraces lodging house. she is actually the daughter of the owner, mr. romeo bacosa. the lodging house was named after her grandfather, judge luis bacosa.

    st. louie terraces lodging house

    anyways, it was a 20-30 minute drive from the airport to the lodge. along the way we saw an overloaded jeepney, a typical site when you are in a province where some passengers are already sitting on the roof.looking on your left or right, you will see nothing but green. farm animals are freely walking. we even saw a bunch of cows on the road. annie said the sometimes these cows causes traffic because they don't want to move to the side of the road.

    hanggang bubong o

    jampacked

    the lodging house is just along the national highway, near kokosnuss and rudy's place lodge. actually magkakalapit lang ang mga hotels and lodges doon. there are no 5-star hotels nor fancy restaurants in coron, just homey places.

    accomodation here is quite cheaper compared to others. bago palang kasi ang lodge na to. when we were there, may mga part pa na under construction. i can say this is a good place to stay. large rooms, clean facilities, approachable ang mga staff, location is good - near town proper. there are 2 little monkeys that will welcome you when you get there - muymuy and palaboy.

    si palaboy

    for our day 1, we just had a little tour at the town proper with annie. the cool breeze of the sea refreshed us. we went to the market and bought food for the next day's trip - calauit safari. then we had dinner at sea side restaurant. they serve really good food. mejo pricey nga lang.
    port in the town proper
    coron signage
    market market! hehe.

    tour packages
    st. louie offers tour packages : 4 Days, 3 Nights Accommodation, Coron, Busuanga, & Culion island hopping day tours which include full board meals, banca & guide's fees, Inland transport and shuttle service for airport pick up and departure transfers. rates vary depending on how many you are in a group. for 4, it is P7000+ for a 4days, 3 nights stay.

    diy trip
    we were offered a tour package, but we decided to just stay at st. louie's and do the tour ourselves. i don't know if there was miscommunication, but ms. annie was arranging everything for us - tour transfers, boat, etc. we were just shocked when we checked out, our total bill was really more that what we expected.

    the town proper is really easy to access. you can even walk from the lodge. andun na din ung port at market. if you're doing diy, there would really be no problem. maraming boats dun, you can negotiate with them. madami din tricycle, and P10 each lang ang fare. as i remember it correctly, we were charged P150 for a tricycle, from/to lodge. and i think P450 for the maquinit hotspring transfers.

    if you are going to stay at st. louie's, just don't let them arrange things for you if you are on a diy trip. better avail the package kung sila lang din magaasikaso. if you are on a budget, diy na lang. i assure you there won't be any hassle.

    it is easy to get and hire boats for a diy island hopping

    hotel elena, davao city

    8 october 2010, davao city

    wow, first day. after an hour and 45 minutes of air travel, we finally arrived at francisco bangoy international airport. my bestfriend and i had an early flight, while the rest of the gang will be arriving in the afternoon. i was pondering about the map of the philippines by then - davao is really far from manila. and i was happy to think na 'oo, nasa davao na nga ako!'. when we got out of the arrival area, manong driver of hotel elena was already waiting for us. sympre he was holding a signboard that says 'hotel elena'. it was around a 15-minute travel from the airport to the hotel. since it was still early and we were sleepy, tulog mode muna pagdating.

    when you are going to davao, there are lots of hotels (simple to luxury) that you can choose from. since we will be outside naman mostly, we just opt to stay in a simple hotel. tsaka mas swak sa budget. hehe. we chose hotel elena as referred to by a friend. this is where they usually stay during business trips to davao, one network bank, one of the rural banks in davao city is their client.

    photo courtesy of http://davaohotelelena.com
    i have reserved a room before the trip, september pa lang. contact person is catherine tajonera. she promtly replies to my inquiries naman. and by the way, they also have a live chat on their website. airport shuttle service is free, they just need to know your flight details to accommodate you. the room is clean and spacious. they have available drinks (soda and beer) in the ref, but you will need to pay of course upon checkout. for us five people, we got the junior suite and requested for an extra bed.

    junior suite. photo courtesy of http://davaohotelelena.com
    room rates:

        * standard single - P1,550.00
        * standard double - P1,780.00
        * superior single  - P1,720.00
        * superior double - P1,900.00
        * deluxe single - P1,950.00
        * deluxe double - P2,200.00
        * junior suite - P2,500.00
        * pent house 1  - P4,000.00
        * pent house 2 - P5,000.00
        * extra bed - P600.00
        * extra person - P500.00

        with complimentary breakfast - food is good!

    they also have their resto called jacky's resto-cafe inside. it is a wifi spot so you can do blogs, facebook, chat and other stuff while enjoying your yummy yummy food.

    this hotel is a good place to stay. we just didn't have much interaction with their staff and crew. hindi ganun ka approachable.
