coron island hopping

05 february 2011, coron, palawan
skeleton wreck, banul beach, twin lagoon, kayangan lake, siete picados

third day - island hopping! my excitement is a little bit snagged due to our big wave experience the day before, but the tourguide said that it's gonna be different this time. yesterday is an open sea, and for this tour, there are islands, so the waters are calm.

we started the tour before lunch. the islands are just around 10minutes away from the town proper, and a fewer minutes away from each other, so a half day tour for these selected islands is more than enough.

skeleton wreck
coron island is well known for some japanese shipwrecks that sunk during the world war 2. this site is only one of the many. if you snorkel or swim to see this wreck, it gives a creepy feeling. baka may lumabas na mumu e. hehe. it is just several meters away from the shore. the beach is so fascinating - greenish blue clear waters, swimming fishes, visible corals.

entrance fee: P100

banul beach
we had our lunch here. there are others who were also taking their lunch, some were resting and some were swimming. it's a perfect site to take some pictures.

i would like to commend our boatmen, though i didn't get their names. super maasikaso while we are having lunch. ayaw pa nga sumabay e. we just insisted.

twin lagoon
as the name implies, twin lagoon has two lagoons - the outer lagoon where boats dock, and an inner lagoon where you have to pass through a narrow opening (cave-like) before reaching it. it was raining when we swam - a really good experience. this is my favorite!

entrance fee: P100

kayangan lake
mas mataas entrance fee dito, don't know why. before you reach the lake, you have walk up mountain trail, then descend after reaching the peak. the peak is not that high, just right enough for you to catch your breath. hehe.

kayangan lake is said to be the cleanest lake in the philippines. you can do fish spa here.

entrance fee: P200

siete picados
we stopped for a while here, and stayed in our boat. we just wanted to see the site and feed the fishes. there are seven small lime rocks in the area. our guide said that according to myths, there were 7 brothers who died here, then the rocks formed. but some blogs say that it's all about the seven deadly sins. maybe the 7 brothers are sinful, i don't know. hehe.
